In an earlier post, I mentioned changes I made and planned to make to two Godishus cabinets I bought from Ikea. One cabinet became a tool cabinet. Information about measurements for shelving were given in that post. In this post, I will give information about shelving for the sewing and craft supplies cabinet (SCSS). Initially, I planned to alter the exterior of the tool cabinet, which I did by switching to 3d printed knobs, but I was unable to come up with anything other than the knobs. However, I did find something suitable for the SCSS cabinet, even though I had not planned to change the exterior at all. I will leave the SCSS cabinet exterior hack information for a future post, as I have not started it yet. The method I will be using may come as a bit of a surprise, but I I know it works as I have already performed a test. For now, I will cover the transformation I made to the interior of the SCSS cabinet.

I returned to Lowe’s to buy wood. Although the store employees working in the lumber section warned me that the saw may not cut the wood straight, I found it to be well cut, just as it was on my prior visit. I purchased a 3/4″ x 16″ x 96″ Spruce Pine Fir Edge Glued Panel. I requested it to be cut into 1 – 55 7/16″ length and 3 – 12 3/4″ lengths. I attached all pieces with angles I printed.

I did not paint the wood nor did I coat it with varnish. It may be a good idea to at least coat it with varnish. That may be something I do later. It feels good to have completed the interior. Next, on to the exterior.
