This vase starts as a 7 round spiral circle; approximately 2.75″ in diameter. It is about 4.5″ in height, with an approximate 1.5″ diameter opening at the top.

Yarn: Cotton – medium; approximately 38 yards
Gauge: 13 st(s) by 14 rows = 4” x 4”
Hook: H/8

Stitches Used
Sc – single crochet
Sl st- slip stitch
Dec – decrease. Draw up a loop in the next 2 st(s), yarn over, pull through all loops on hook (3 loops)

General Instructions

Do not turn at the end of rnds. Place a marker on the 1st stitch of every rnd.

Vase

Rnd 1 : Make a magic ring. 6 sc into ring.  Close circle by sl st into 1st st of rnd. Total 6 st(s).

Rnd 2:  2 sc in each st. Total: 12 st(s).

Rnd 3:  1 sc in first st.  2 sc in second st. *1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st;** repeat from * to last st.  1 sc in last st. Total: 18 st(s).

Rnd 4: 1 sc in first and second st(s). 2 sc in third st. *1 sc in next 2 st(s), 2 sc in next st;** repeat from * to end of rnd.  Total: 24 st(s).

Rnd 5: 1 sc in first st. 2 sc in second st. 1 sc in each of next 3 st(s). *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next 3 st(s).** Repeat from * to 2 st(s) from end. 1sc each st.  Total: 30 st(s).

Rnd 6: 1 sc in first 3 st(s). 2 sc in next st. *1 sc in next 4 st(s), 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to last st. 1 sc in last st. Total: 36 st(s).

Rnd 7: 1 sc in first st. 2 sc in next st. *1 sc in next 5 st(s), 2 sc in next st.** Repeat from * to last 4 st(s). 1 sc each st. Total: 42 st(s). Note:  Now is a good time to weave or sew in the beginning tail of yarn.

Rnd 14: 1 sc in first 9 st(s). Draw up a loop in the next 2 st(s)., yarn over, pull through all loops on hook (3 loops), (1 decrease made). 1 sc in next 9 st(s), 1 decrease. *1 sc in next 8 st(s), 1 decrease.** Repeat from * once. Total: 38 st(s).

Rnd 15 : 1 sc in first st.  1 sc in each st to end of rnd.

Rnd 16: 1 sc in first 16 st(s). 1 decrease. 1 sc in next 16 st(s). 1 decrease. 1 sc in last 2 st(s). Total: 36 st(s).

Rnd 17 : Repeat rnd 15.

Rnd 18: 1 sc in first 7 st(s). 1 decrease. *1 sc next 6 st(s). 1 decrease.** Repeat from * twice. 1 sc in last 3 st(s). Total: 32 st(s).

Rnd 19 : Repeat rnd 15.

Rnd 20: 1 sc in first 6 st(s).1 decrease. *1 sc next 5 st(s), 1 decrease.** Repeat from * twice. 1 sc in last 3 st(s). Total: 28 st(s).

Rnd 21 : Repeat rnd 15.

Rnd 22: 1 sc in first 12 st(s). 1 decrease. 1 sc next 12 st(s). 1 decrease. Total: 26 st(s).

Rnd 23 : Repeat rnd 15.

Rnd 24: 1 sc in first 5 st(s). 1 decrease. *1 sc next 4 st(s). 1 decrease.** Repeat from * once. 1 sc in next 5 st(s). 1 decrease.  Total: 22 st(s).

Rnd 25 : Repeat rnd 15.

Rnd 26: 1 sc in first 4 st(s). 1 decrease. 1 sc in next 3 st(s). 1 decrease. *1 sc in next 3 st(s). 1 decrease.** Repeat from * once. 1 sc in last st. Total: 18 st(s).

Rnd 27 : 1 sc in first st. 1 sc in each st to end of rnd.  Slp st to 1st st in rnd. Tie off. Weave or sew in tail.
