Winning the lottery would allow me to fulfill my dream of building a nine-story apartment building in an urban area. The building I have envisioned meets Passive House and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) requirements; is earthquake and tornado-resistant; and has a rooftop greenhouse.
During Open House Chicago last year, held by the Chicago Architecture Center, I visited the 540 W. Madison building, which is LEED certified. I wanted to move in and live there for the rest of my life. The interior air felt wonderful. I experienced a sense of clean and fresh that I had not felt before. I want that feeling to be a part of my everyday life.
