I was working on my movie project last night when I found a way to make a video with transparency to Alpha Over another movie in the Blender 2.79 Video Sequence Editor. The quick and crazy render above shows the effect. The photographs of the settings are below. The large elf is a Manuel Bastioni humanoid.
