My daughter got me a Lodge dutch oven for my birthday in November. Today I took a bite out of the best bread I have made in a really long time.It was pretty easy; you just have to start the night before. I haven’t been this excited since I found the best way to make popcorn was in the microwave in a paper bag!

Second Loaf – January 14, 2017
This loaf is darker because I left it in the oven for the right amount of time. I took the lid off the first loaf at about 35 minutes. Something I am noticing about the dutch oven is that food browns with the lid on at 425° and above. I cooked chicken legs in the oven last night at 400° because I did not want them to get as dry roasted as the time before. What I got was chicken legs that were not browned at all. Next time, I will try 415°. But first, I will make a peach pie. I’m calling it pie because I like cripsy and syrup soaked crusts. This will be interesting.
