Cayce & Atlantis

Blog image 1While I was working on the next rug in the Flight Collection earlier in the week, I watched a documentary about Edgar Cayce and Atlantis. I felt the narrator/explorer did a very good job of reporting events and facts. One thing he said prompted my writing this blog post. I had read the passage he quoted in books about Cayce before, but when I heard him speak the words, I said, “Right!” People tend to forget he said that. The reading he quoted from is below.

364-3 3. The position as the continent Atlantis occupied, is that as between the Gulf of Mexico on the one hand – and the Mediterranean upon the other. Evidences of this lost civilization are to be found in the Pyrenees and Morocco on the one hand, British Honduras, Yucatan and America upon the other. There are some protruding portions within this that must have at one time or another been a portion of this great continent. The British West Indies or the Bahamas, and a portion of same that may be seen in the present – if the geological survey would be made in some of these – especially, or notably, in Bimini and in the Gulf Stream through this vicinity, these may be even yet determined.

What I noted from the reading was, “Evidences of this lost civilization are to be found in…America …” It is interesting that the word America was used. It was not called United States, but it is clear that United States was meant as two locations in Central America were given. If one looks at key passages where Cayce relayed information about Atlantis, a mental picture forms of the location where the Atlantis continent started to separate; around what is now Sargasso Sea and Bermuda.

Blog image 2What has always been off about the Cayce readings and science is the timing. The breakup described by the readings would have occurred around 200 million years ago according to geologic evidence. Something I did not mention in my blog post in which I interpreted a horary chart about the location of Atlantis was the chart indicates that Atlantis has moved. The ruler of the 9th house, the first for Atlantis, and ruler of the 2nd house of lost things is Venus. Venus in Capricorn is in mutual reception with Saturn in Libra. Astrologer Noel Tyl noted that a mutual reception means that an object is no longer where it was lost. Thus, the horary chart concurs with Cayce’s readings on timing.

Regarding the location of Atlantis, upon review, the horary chart may not be pointing in one direction. From my last experience with finding something lost, the ruler of the 2nd house proved to be the most accurate indicator. The Ruler of the 2nd house in the horary chart is Venus in Capricorn in the 4th house. Capricorn points South and the 4th house points North. When I recently attempted to find the location of an unidentified person, indicators pointed in all directions. This was due I think to multiple entrances to a business floor from a bank of elevators.  What I think that means for the Atlantis chart is that Atlantis is not all in one place. It was split into pieces. Especially considering that Yucatan is directly South of Chicago.

A location North of Chicago does not concur with the Cayce readings. The readings mention a separation, but one would expect the portion of America to have been part of Atlantis to be the eastern seaboard. Still, horary charts are usually spot on when interpreted correctly. I think the issue is my interpretation. As I do more with finding lost things, I will revisit the horary chart.

  1. The chart indicates that Atlantis has moved because what made the island look like Atlantis has been destroyed.

This is one of the frescoes from the Acrotiri settlement in Thera. It fits the concentric description given by Plato. The Theosophists made up all sorts of stuff regarding lost continents and attributed their inventions to those continents to gain more legitimacy. I personally wouldn’t trust Cayce too much either, since many of his predictions never materialised. Atlantis didn’t rise from the sea and we didn’t experience a global flood in 1997 (which, back then, I thought would be super-cool).

    1. I don’t understand “because what made the island look like Atlantis has been destroyed.” My other posts on Atlantis place the time it may have existed outside of Plato’s lifetime. If you think about Cayce’s readings as a whole, his spirit guide groups (I think there were at least two) were not adept at sciences that did not involve the human body. Why was that?

      1. If you look at maps of Atlantis drawn according to the description given by Plato, you’ll see that there’s a strong resemblance to the Acrotiri fresco I’ve linked to, above. When the Theran volcanic eruption happened, the island lost its original shape (smaller central island, surrounded by a canal-like circle, surrounded by a circular outer island). Most of the outer island, the central island and the canal were destroyed and sunk. We know that the eruption happened before Plato’s time anyway, it’s dated to about 1500 BCE.

I don’t know why Cayce’s spirits were not adept at the sciences. In the ancient Greek religion it was a common held belief that spirits (the beings lesser than Gods but above humans) can lie and misguide mortals, especially when those mortals weren’t ready to see the actual truth. It fell on the part of mortals to show discernment and rationally decide if the spirits were showing them the right way. These spirits ensure that the one who receives knowledge is going to use it well so they’ll lead the unready in circles instead of giving the good stuff to just anybody who asks for it.

I don’t know if that explains Cayce’s interactions but it definitely could.
